What can I expect to happen during my treatment?
For clients who are new to Reflexolology full explanations will be provided. The treatment begins with relaxing opening movements, and pressure is applied to the various reflex points on the feet, and this is followed by relaxing closing movements; each treatment is adapted to individual needs. Some areas may feel tender, but this should pass; pressure will be adapted if this happens. The most important thing is for the treatment to be relaxing. At the initial treatment the therapist will take a medical and lifestyle case history, which helps with the treatment plan. You sign a consent form agreeing to treatment. All information is confidential.
It is best to wear loose fitting clothing such as leggings or jogging bottoms for the treatment.
What happens after?
You will be given feedback and may be given aftercare or referral advice. If there is a particular issue, it is usual to have a series of treatments (E.g. four to six) and this can be discussed with your therapist. Clients booking 5 sessions receive a free sixth session.
Occasionally people report symptoms such as having a mild headache, or feeling tired. These should pass within 24-48 hours; Reflexologists believe that this is part of the healing process.
